West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady speaks out on Zouma and his reaction to fine

West Ham United have had to deal with the fallout from Kurt Zouma's actions this week after the defender was filmed kicking his cat with Karren Brady issuing her take

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has condemned the actions of Kurt Zouma but has seen the "extreme remorse" he's shown for his actions.

The Hammers centre-half landed himself in hot water this week when a video circulated of him kicking his pet cat.

Zouma has had to deal with heavy fallout as a result with the club fining him, the RSPCA seizing his pets and the police also contemplating investigations.

West Ham boss David Moyes copped heavy criticism for selecting the Frenchman during the midweek win over Watford.

Zouma has been hit hard in the pocket with Brady doubling down on the stance shown by the club and revealing that the defender "accepted this sanction immediately without reservation and was in full agreement that the funds be donated to ensure some good is done".

Brady wrote in her Sun column : "Let me be absolutely clear - there is no defence for Kurt Zouma's actions.

"I, like anyone who watched the video that circulated this week, was shocked by what I saw.

"Kurt's behaviour in no way reflected the standards and values that we hold dear at West Ham United - and of course those of our pet-loving nation.

"Our stance on this as a Club has been clear from the very outset - we unreservedly condemn his actions and would never condone any form of cruelty towards animals.

"We have acted swiftly to fine him the maximum amount available to us."

Zouma has also seen hit boot deal with Adidas terminated whilst West Ham have seen sponsors suspend their associations.

The player himself has issued a public apology whilst Brady confirmed that he made a point of addressing the situation with everyone at the London club.

She added: "I feel it is important and appropriate at this stage to stress that Kurt Zouma, the person, is entirely aware of the severity of his actions.

"It has been said before but I can say it again now, because I have seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears - he is extremely remorseful.

"He has said sorry, and has also apologised sincerely to everyone at the Club and the wider public.

"That is an important first step on what will be a journey of re-education and atonement and it is a journey we will fully support him on."

Zouma's teammate Michail Antonio has come out and made his opinion on the matter clear.

He condemned his actions but questioned why there was an outcry for him to be sacked, citing the action taken against players convicted of racism.
