Vlahovic sends message to Arsenal after just 13 minutes of Juventus debut

Former Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic needed just 13 minutes to show the Gunners what they missed out on after opening his account for Juventus in Sunday's 2-0 win over Verona

Dusan Vlahovic rubbed salt into Arsenal 's wounds on Sunday night after taking just 13 minutes to find the net on his Juventus debut.

The Gunners spent the majority of the January transfer window chasing a deal for the Serbian hotshot.

But the former Fiorentina star rebuffed Arsenal's interest to seal a £66million switch to the Allianz Arena.

Vlahovic's snub meant Arsenal had to regroup in the final days of the winter window - and they ultimately ended up failing to sign the elite striker they so desperately craved.

In a further blow, Vlahovic wasted no time in showing Arsenal, and the world, just what they were missing out on during his first game for the Old Lady.

Join the debate! Do you think Arsenal made a mistake by not signing a striker in January? Let us know here.

The 21-year-old swiftly broke the deadlock in Juve's 2-0 win over Verona, with his intricate lob over the goalkeeper with the outside of his left foot enough to open his Juventus account in spectacular fashion.

Denis Zakaria netted on the hour mark to seal the win for Massimiliano Allegri's side; who elevated themselves into fourth spot in Serie A.

While Vlahovic has quickly adapted to life at the Allianz Arena, Arsenal are preparing to negotiate the second half of the Premier League with a distinct lack of firepower after missing out on the goalscoring prodigy.

Despite being unable to source a replacement, the Gunners pressed ahead with plans to curtail Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's Arsenal career.

The Gabon star was given the green light to seal a sensational free switch to Spanish giants Barcelona following a long-running dispute with Mikel Arteta.

After it became clear that striking a deal for Vlahovic was impossible, the Gunners reportedly looked in to the possibility of a late swoop for Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak.

However, Arsenal were unwilling to meet the Swedish attacker's enormous £74.7m release clause.

A disappointing January window leaves Arsenal with just Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as senior striking options ahead of the run-in to try and seal a Champions League place.

And with the Gunners currently on a rotten run of form and winless in 2022, there's every chance that a lack of firepower could prove terminal to their hopes of securing a top-four finish for the first time in five years.

Just to complicate matters further, both Lacazette and Nketiah are due to be free agents in at the end of the season; meaning Arsenal face a major attacking rebuild in the summer.

When speaking on the situation, Arteta admitted back in December: "We have a cloud and the cloud is there. At the moment we're not able to change it.

"We're working on it to try to make it as small as possible and as clear as possible but it's the situation we are in because contracts have details, the timing of them is tricky and we are trying to resolve it."
