Tuesday's League One predictions including Birmingham vs. Cambridge

sportsmole.co.uk, 11 February 2025, 06:10
Birmingham vs. Cambridge (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

League One leaders Birmingham City will look to extend their lead at the top of the table when they host bottom-of-the-pack Cambridge United at St. Andrew's Stadium on Tuesday night.

The hosts hold a four-point lead over second-placed Wycombe Wanderers but also have at least two games in hand, while the visitors are 24th in the standings and seven points adrift of safety.

We say: Birmingham City 3-1 Cambridge United

These two sides are at complete opposite ends of the table heading into the game, leaving Birmingham as major favourites to secure the win, and we expect the hosts to comfortably take all three points.

Charlton vs. Peterborough (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Two teams with opposing objectives in League One will come together on Tuesday night as playoff hopefuls Charlton Athletic host relegation battling Peterborough United at The Valley.

The hosts occupy the final playoff spot in sixth place with 47 points from 29 matches, while the visitors sit four points above the drop zone in 20th place.

We say: Charlton Athletic 2-1 Peterborough United

Charlton are strong favourites given the contrast in the two teams' league standings, and with the Addicks also boasting the home advantage, we believe the hosts will secure the win.

Leyton Orient vs. Mansfield (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Mansfield Town will be aiming to avoid a sixth straight defeat in League One when they continue their campaign with a trip to Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

The visitors are currently 14th in the League One table, 11 points clear of the relegation zone, while Orient are ninth, three points off the playoff spots in England's third tier.

We say: Leyton Orient 1-0 Mansfield Town

Orient were excellent against Man City last time out, and they will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways against an out-of-form Mansfield side. We are actually expecting this to be a close match in terms of the scoreline, but Orient should have enough to emerge victorious.

Blackpool vs. Rotherham (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Both aiming to continue climbs up the League One table with consecutive wins, Blackpool and Rotherham United will do battle at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

The hosts have moved into the top half with a pair of victories, while their visitors sit 18th thanks to a crucial return to winning ways.

We say: Blackpool 1-1 Rotherham United

Both sides will be hoping to put tough starts to the season behind them and kick on after recent wins, while both possess plenty of quality in their ranks, making Saturday's meeting an intriguing one.

We see a share of the spoils as the most likely outcome with the two sides aiming to build a platform for further improvement in the coming weeks.

Crawley vs. Stevenage (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Crawley Town are set to host rivals Stevenage at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday in League One as both sides look to build on wins last time out.

Rob Elliot's Crawley are currently 19th with 19 points from their 18 games this season, while Alex Revell's Stevenage occupy 14th place after picking up 22 points from 17 matches.

We say: Crawley Town 1-1 Stevenage

Crawley are in good form at the moment having recorded consecutive wins and will head into Saturday's game confident of achieving a positive result.

On the other hand, Revell's side's defence may prove too stubborn to score more than one against, and given Elliot's side have conceded 28 goals this season, they may not be able to keep even Stevenage at bay.

Bristol Rovers vs. Stockport (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Two teams at opposite ends of the League One table will clash on Tuesday night as relegation-threatened Bristol Rovers host promotion-hunting Stockport County at the Memorial Stadium.

The hosts are 19th in the standings with 31 points from their 28 matches, while the visitors are fourth in the table with 53 points from their 30 league fixtures.

We say: Bristol Rovers 1-3 Stockport County

The hosts will be boosted from their recent victory, but given the contrast in both sides' league standings and Stockport's impressive winning streak, we believe the visitors will win this one.

Reading vs. Shrewsbury (Tuesday, 8.00pm)

In a match that could impact both the race for promotion and the fight for survival in League One, Reading are set to host Shrewsbury Town for a must-win game at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Tuesday.

The Royals will be hoping that a disastrous January is well and truly behind them as they look to leapfrog Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic to climb into the playoff spots.

We say: Reading 2-1 Shrewsbury Town

Both sides have started February well and will be desperate for a positive result in midweek to put pressure on the sides above them in the table.

However, Reading have been particularly strong at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and their home support is likely to push them to another three points on Tuesday.
