Transfer news and rumours: Salah contract, Atletico want Werner, Ranieri LATEST

Salah, 29, - who also set up Sadio Mane's goal - has been locked in negotiations over a new deal with his contract due to expire in 2023.

Elsewhere, Chelsea stars Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner have been the subject of renewed transfer speculation.

Mo Salah

The Athletic claim it is Salah's 'preference to remain' at Anfield, though there are concerns over the length of time taken during negotiations.

Liverpool have recently announced extensions for Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

But the club's highest earner Salah is still yet to ink fresh terms with reports citing the winger's frustrations at how easily City made Kevin De Bruyne the Premier League's highest-paid player.

It is claimed that Salah 'feels as though he is yet to reach his prime' with the former Roma star an outstanding professional.

However, Liverpool are 'reluctant to pay what he feels he is worth' due to the precedent it would set in changing the club's wage structure.

Claudio Ranieri

Former Leicester City boss Ranieri is set to become Watford's next manager.

The club axed Xisco Munoz on Sunday, just seven games into the Premier League season.

Watford are looking for their 15th permanent manager over the last decade and a decision looks to have already been made.

talkSPORT understands that Ranieri will be imminently appointed.

Timo Werner

Atletico Madrid are the latest club to enter the race to land Werner, 25, from Chelsea with Bayern Munich also among his suitors.

The striker has been hit and miss during his time at Stamford Bridge although he did score in the 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.

Atletico may now offer him a route to LaLiga as a long-term replacement for veteran forward Luis Suarez, 34, according to Transfer Market Web.

Werner's German compatriot Antonio Rudiger is also the subject of interest from former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

Calciomercato claim Madrid may look to sign the defender in January when the 28-year-old can negotiate a pre-contract agreement.

Serge Aurier

The former Tottenham defender is closing in on a move to Villarreal.

Aurier has been a free agent since leaving Spurs on deadline day with shock links to Arsenal over the past month.

However, he is now set to ply his trade in LaLiga, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that the right-back is due in Spain today.

Aurier will undergo his medical this afternoon with the finer details of his new contract to be agreed after.

Luca Netz

Borussia Monchengladbach's Netz claims he rejected a move to Manchester City three years ago, and the 18-year-old says he would turn them down again.

The teenage defender told Bild: "I think it's nonsense to switch to Man City at such a young age.

"Even if I were to get another offer now, I would turn it down.

"I have a clear plan, and it's simply too early for the Premier League.

"It's important for me to play for Borussia, to gain experience and to develop steadily.

"Then we will see what happens in a few years."
