Stoke snap up free transfer
Stoke City have strengthened their squad outside of the transfer window with the arrival of Ciaran Clark on a free.
The former Newcastle United and Aston Villa defender was released by the Magpies this summer after spending last year on loan at Sheffield United.
The 34-year-old made over 200 Premier League appearances and has been capped 36 times by the Republic of Ireland.
Clark joins former teammates Enda Stevens, Dwight Gayle, Daniel Johnson and Mark Travers at the bet365 Stadium.
And he can't wait to get going.
Speaking to the club's website, Clark said: "I've missed the feeling of being in the dressing room and preparing week-to-week for Saturdays.
"I worked hard throughout pre-season and have kept myself in good shape since, so I am keen to get out there with the lads over the next couple of weeks, as the feeling of those sessions is something you can't replicate alone.
"With the quality of players we have, if we find some consistency, I believe we can go on and have a good season."

Jorginho linked with shock transfer
Arsenal ace Jorginho is wanted by Barcelona, according to reports from ESPN.
They claim the LaLiga giants are keen on recruiting the Italian international this January
The 31-year-old switched from Chelsea to north London earlier this year to help the Gunners win the title.
It didn't work out that way, but he did turn in some top displays for Mikel Arteta's men.
However, the arrival of Declan Rice has seen Jorginho's game time come down.
He's started just one Premier League match this season and was at fault for Tottenham's second equaliser during the north London derby, so a move away might be just what Jorginho needs.

Rooney announced!
Birmingham City have confirmed that Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is the club's new first-team manager.
The former England international starts with immediate effect and has signed a three-and-a-half year deal after the Championship side parted ways with John Eustace and Rooney left DC United.
Rooney will be supported by his former England international teammate Ashley Cole, the current England Under-21s assistant coach, John O'Shea, the assistant coach of the Republic of Ireland men's national team and Carl Robinson and Pete Shuttleworth, who both assisted Rooney at DC United. Shuttleworth was also part of his coaching team at Derby County.
Ashley Cole and John O'Shea will retain their coaching roles with their respective national sides.
This is Rooney's first job in England since leaving Derby County in June 2022, and he can't wait to get started.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Birmingham City Football Club at such an exciting time.
"It is very clear that they have a plan and are committed to realising their ambition for the club. We are fully aligned on what is expected.
"I have been building my managerial career, putting myself in challenging environments, to get me ready for this opportunity.
"It's a project that gives me a sense of purpose and I can't wait to get started."

Unrest at Manchester United
talkSPORT's Alan Brazil claims that Manchester United's players are unconvinced by Erik ten Hag.
It's been a poor start to the season for the Red Devils in both the Premier League and Champions League, while Jadon Sancho has been exiled from the squad after a public falling out with the Dutchman.
And Brazil claims all is not well at Old Trafford.
Speaking on talkSPORT about what he had heard from an unnamed Man United star, he said: "The players are not having the manager. They're not having him at all.
"By all accounts, they are disgusted by the way he treated [Cristiano] Ronaldo - and they say Sancho is a great guy who works his socks off."
