Thursday's Brasileiro predictions including Palmeiras vs. Atletico GO

Palmeiras vs. Atletico GO (Thursday, 11.30pm)

Palmeiras will be looking to make it six home wins on the bounce when they play host to Atletico Goianiense in round 16 of the Brasileiro Serie A on Thursday.

Having failed to win any of the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Dragao will journey to Allianz Parque looking to get one over the hosts and snap their six-match winless run.

We say: Palmeiras 3-1 Atletico Goianiense

Atletico Goianiense have struggled for results of late and are in for another tough 90 minutes against a Palmeiras side who are currently firing on all cylinders. Ferreira's men have been near impenetrable at home in recent weeks and we fancy them to come away with all three points.

Flamengo vs. Fortaleza (Friday, 12.00am)

League leaders Flamengo will entertain the challenge of Fortaleza at the Maracana Stadium on Friday in round 16 of the 2024 Brasileiro season.

The hosts head into this one off the back of a share of the spoils last time out, while their visitors made it three wins from four matches with a narrow triumph.

We say: Flamengo 2-1 Fortaleza

Despite a mini bump in the road last time out, Flamengo are in flying form heading into this one and are huge favourites to come out on top. While we expect Fortaleza to put up a good fight, we are tipping the hosts to secure maximum points in the end.

Criciuma will be hoping to bounce back quickly from defeat when they host struggling Fluminense at the Estadio Heriberto Hulse on Friday.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be looking to secure another victory, having only managed one win in the Brasileiro so far, back in gameweek three.

Criciuma are building momentum on home soil, having strung together some positive results, making them favourites against a Fluminense side that have been in poor form all season and are yet to win a single away game.

Atletico Mineiro vs. Sao Paulo (Friday, 1.30am)

Sao Paulo will look to continue their solid run of form in Brasileiro when they travel to Arena MRV to take on Atletico Mineiro on Friday morning.

The hosts enter this match with 18 points and in 12th place in the league standings, while the visitors are now fourth with 27 points after 15 games.

We say: Atletico Mineiro 1-2 Sao Paulo

While Atletico Mineiro have been the dominant side in this fixture over the last few years, they have struggled for wins this season and their home record is among the worst in the division.

Sao Paulo, on the other hand, are a side on the up this season, currently on a four-match league winning streak, and we feel they will add to that record with another victory in this one.

Vitoria vs. Botafogo (Friday, 1.30am)

Botafogo could move top of the Brasileiro Serie A standings when they journey to the Estadio Manoel Barradas to take on Vitoria on Thursday.

The home side will head into the game looking to get one over the Lone Stars, having failed to win any of their previous six meetings since a narrow 3-2 victory in October 2017.

We say: Vitoria 1-2 Botafogo

Off the back of another fine showing on home turf, Vitoria will head into Thursday's with confidence as they look to end their winless run against Botafogo. However, given the gulf in quality and experience between the two teams, we predict Jorge's side will extend their dominance over the hosts.
