The one area Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United can't touch Chelsea in

talksport.com, 24 January 2024, 18:19
Even in the most frustrating of seasons, another cup final is business as usual for Chelsea.

The Blues overcame their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg frustration against Middlesbrough by brushing aside the Championship outfit 6-1 at Stamford Bridge, going through 6-2 on aggregate.

Cole Palmer was the star man again, scoring twice in the drubbing, sending Chelsea back to Wembley despite their issues elsewhere.

Mid-table in the Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino's side do in fact boast some of the league's best form, with four wins in five opening the door to a potential European return.

However, this season it's all about domestic glory, which they're now only one game away from.

With the final on February 25, Chelsea are now in their 18th domestic final since the turn of the century.

That's more than any other English team, and more importantly for fans more than any of their 'big six' rivals who are currently boasting better league seasons.

What could be worrying for Blues fans, though, is if they face Liverpool again, the team twice at Wembley in the League Cup and FA Cup in 2022.

Chelsea fans have had plenty to boast about since 2000, winning the Premier League on five occasions, Champions League twice, FA Cup five times and League Cup three times.

And fans were prepared to bask in the glory of Chelsea's place in yet another final on social media.

One fan said: "Masters. The winning spirit of this club when it comes to finals is monstrous!"

Another said: "Put some respect on the team."

This fan added: "The biggest club in London and England. Chelsea football club. Vamos Chelsea."

While another said: "That's my team, and it's just the beginning of our success."

Last season brought a rare trophyless campaign under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, but there will be plenty of hope this year a win at Wembley could set their young squad up for a bright future, much like it did in 2005 under Jose Mourinho.
