The ex-Manchester United centre-back played alongside Ronaldo between 2003 and 2009 and has had his former club's talisman's back on numerous occasions - but this time, he's drawn the line.

Ronaldo's stunning interview with Piers Morgan saw him admit he felt 'betrayed' by Man United, amongst other accusations about the club and its managers since his return in the summer of 2021.
Watching the interview that is due to be aired in full this week, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who Ronaldo also seemingly has no time for, believes only 1 per cent of Man United fans would be on Ronaldo's side now - including Ferdinand.

After seeing his former rival's accusation, Ferdinand asked him to come on his podcast Vibe with Five to debate the issue. Sure enough, Carragher accepted.
"You know what, you called me out and listen if I expected anyone to call me out on Twitter, it was you," Ferdinand told the Liverpool legend in a good natured back and forth.
"You beat anyone else that was capable to the punch so I respect you for that."
He continued: "Do you know what, on this whole issue, you can't sit here and defend that from Cristiano Ronaldo because, deep down, and I know for a fact, this has all been manufactured for one thing, and that's for him to leave the club.

"This love affair that Cristiano's had with the club is now over in my eyes. I'd like to get your take on how you feel on it, but I don't feel there's any way back, or the club will take him back, or that he wants to come back - that's a given.
"And I think this is all manufactured for that reason that he wants to get out of this place."
Ferdinand has often rushed to Ronaldo's defence since his return to Old Trafford - hence Carragher claiming he'd run to cover Ronaldo's back this time too, alongside other club legends Patrice Evra and Roy Keane.

But Ferdinand still believes the club should've been clear with Ronaldo that he wouldn't get many minutes after failing to secure a move in the summer.
"You've got to communicate with somebody," he said as he assessed the other side of the argument. "You can't sit there and go 'oh I'll bring you on for two minutes, have that'.
"Has that communication [about limited minutes] been had? I'd argue it hasn't."
