Karamoko Dembele, the child prodigy who was one of the most promising talents in Europe at the age of 13 and signed his first professional contract at the age of 15, is not seeing his career take off as quickly as was predicted six years ago.
Now 19 years of age, things have fallen a little quiet for Dembele despite joining Stade Brestois.
"I think Karamoko Dembele is very similar to Lionel Messi. If he takes the right path, then the sky is the limit for him," David Feeney, Dembele's former coach at Park Villa, told the Daily Mail in 2016.
Back then, in 2016, L'Equipe labelled Karamoko Dembele and Ansu Fati as "the young players who will revolutionise football".
It went wrong at Celtic: Not everything went according to plan
Celtic, who took a gamble and made global news with Dembele in October 2016, signing him for their Under-20 side at the age of just 13, decided not to renew his stay in Glasgow.
Dembele did suffer an ankle injury in a pre-season match against Bristol City and could only play two games after March.
Dembele took to Instagram to thank the club that he had been with since being a 13-year-old.
