The visitors as 11 minutes later Sebastian Haller made it 2-1 and then Davy Klaassen made it 3-1 in stoppage time. Haller is only the fifth player in Champions League history to score in each of his first four appearances in the competition, after Zé Carlos in 1993, Alessandro Del Piero in 1995, Diego Costa in 2014 and Erling Haaland in 2019.
Tadic saw the funny side afterwards.
Posting pictures of himself celebrating, he wrote on Twitter: "It takes some balls to win in Dortmund. Hope the post is ok. COME ON AJAX!"
He then posted a picture of the goal post with the caption: "Wishing you a quick recovery my friend."
Ajax are top of Group C with four wins from four games and are now through to the last 16 with two games to spare.
It is the first time the Dutch club has won its first four matches in the Champions League.
