Sunday's Primeira Liga predictions including SC Farense vs. Porto

sportsmole.co.uk, 16 February 2025, 06:35
Rio Ave vs. AVS (Sunday, 3.30pm)

In a match that could impact the relegation battle in the Primeira Liga, Rio Ave are set to host currently managerless AVS at Estadio do Rio Ave Futebol Clube on Sunday.

The Rioavistas will be looking to make it five games without defeat this weekend, while the visitors will be hoping to make a positive start to life without Daniel Ramos.

We say: Rio Ave 2-0 AVS

Rio Ave may be in mixed form at the moment, but their record of avoiding defeat means that they are likely to take at least one point from this weekend's clash.

Additionally, AVS have been in turmoil this season, and given their latest managerial sacking and the fact that they have not secured a replacement yet, they may be vulnerable on Sunday.

Farense vs. Porto (Sunday, 6.00pm)

Fighting for their survival in the Primeira Liga, SC Farense are set to host giants Porto at Estadio de Sao Luis this Sunday.

The Lions of Faro have struggled so far in 2025, though they may sense an unlikely opportunity to pick up points against the lacklustre Dragoes.

We say: SC Farense 1-2 Porto

Farense may be in a relegation fight, but they will be facing a Porto side that have struggled to take maximum points lately.

That being said, the hosts' lack of attacking threat means that if the visitors score more than once then the game could well be beyond them, so expect Anselmi's team to pick up all three points.

Guimaraes vs. Braga (Sunday, 8.30pm)

Vitoria de Guimaraes play host to Braga on Sunday knowing that three points are realistically required to have any chance of a top-four finish in the Primeira Liga table.

At a time when the home side sit in seventh position, the visitors are in that aforementioned fourth, just four points adrift of second spot.

We say: Vitoria de Guimaraes 1-2 Braga

Although Guimaraes have started to get back on track, they are facing a relentless Braga outfit who are the joint-standout team on current form. With that in mind, we are backing Carvalhal's side to edge this contest by the odd goal in three.
