The Man City forward has been sublime this season for the Premier League champions as they look to defend their title.
The Portuguese attacked is their top scorer in the league this season with seven, with Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan his closest rivals on three.
The 27-year-old has proved vital for Pep Guardiola this season and is one of the best players in the Premier League right now.
His double against Watford fired City to the top of the table, and are proving that having no striker is no problem.
City wanted to sign Harry Kane in the summer, but saw their approaches rejected by Tottenham.
It is believed that the Manchester club wanted to make a player plus cash deal for the England striker.
Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino believes Spurs will be ruing the decision not to go after Silva.
While Kane has struggled with just one Premier League goal, the City star has been sensational.
Cascarino told talkSPORT: "If you could get Bernardo Silva in the deal and lose Kane, you'd get a bit of money but you'd get Silva.
"He might not want to leave City and he might not want to go, that was a great option.
"We had this conversation. If you could get Bernardo Silva in the deal… you've lost Christian Eriksson and not really replaced him with the quality of someone like Bernardo Silva.
"That conversation was this summer about Bernardo Silva as it wasn't certain he'd stay at City. From the start of the season, he's just been fantastic."
Cascarino continued: "I've seen a lot of him from his time in France. He's improved no end, his quality on the ball, his movement, his goals, his assists.
"We are very spoilt in the Premier League, we've got Mo Salah doing what he's doing and Bernardo Silva and there are others who are extraordinary.
"He's so comfortable with the ball at his feet and never gets flustered."
