Son's emotional Instagram message with Spurs captain set to make prompt return

Heung-min Son will make a return to training with Tottenham on Thursday after South Korea's shock Asian Cup exit.

South Korea were sent packing from Qatar with a 2-0 defeat to Jordan in the semi-final clash on Tuesday.

While the majority of the South Korea squad have returned to their home country along with manager Jurgen Klinsmann, Son headed straight to the UK and will link up with his Spurs team-mates again on Thursday.

It raises the prospect of Tottenham captain Son being available for Saturday's visit of Brighton, which is live and exclusive on talkSPORT 2.

Spurs have been without Son for four matches over the past month, claiming only one victory during that period without their attacker who has 12 goals for them this season.

Son was dejected following as South Korea suffered their defeat, issuing an apology to fans in the immediate aftermath of the match.

He's still hurting from the result as he posted an emotional message to fans on Instagram on Wednesday.

It read: "Many people were looking forward to holding the Asian Cup tournament and focusing only on the whole game, so there was too much appreciation.

"It was scary and sad to walk back to London after the match, but we arrived safely. I guess I wasn't good enough as captain and didn't lead the team well.

"I was so proud of being a Korean football player because of your love and support even in this situation. Thank you and I am sorry."
