Kane was due to fly to Munich on Friday to wrap up a deal worth £86.4million plus add-ons, ending his 14-year association with the north London club.
However, the 30-year-old turned back from the airport as chairman Daniel Levy tried to make late changes to the deal.
Kane's prolific career at Tottenham has put Shearer's Premier League record under serious threat with his double at Leeds on the final day of last season taking him to 213 goals.
With Shearer sitting uncomfortably, news of a late twist in Kane's prospective move to Bayern has seen the Newcastle legend take to Twitter with a brilliant photoshopped picture of him as a pilot ready to fly Kane to Munich.
The picture featured the caption: "Come on Harry it's time to go!"

Shearer, who retired from football in 2006, netted 260 times in the Premier League - a total that has stood the test of time.
Fans and pundits alike appeared to enjoy Shearer's Friday morning comedy, including Match of the Day colleague Ian Wright who responded to the tweet with a host of laughing emojis.
Kane's whirlwind 24 hours looks set to be quickly resolved as Bayern await his arrival on Friday - with Spurs insisting he does have permission to fly.
Personal terms are not thought to be a problem for the 30-year-old who could make his debut in next Friday's Bundesliga opener at Werder Bremen.
