The Magpies were well represented on Monday night during the Three Lions' 5-0 victory over the Republic Of Ireland at Wembley.
Within the starting XI, the trio of Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon started for Lee Carsley's side.
It's the first time three Magpies have started for England in more than 27 years - a record that Shearer was proud to speak of during his latest appearance on The Rest Is Football podcast.
Addressing Lineker and Richards, Shearer asked: "Can anyone name the last time that three Newcastle players started in an England game?
"It was 1997, I think, against Georgia - me, Rob Lee and David Batty!"

While being a memorable day on Tyneside, it was also an occasion where Shearer netted one of his more memorable strikes.
From an unusual indirect free-kick from inside the penalty area, Teddy Sheringham rolled the ball back to Shearer who lashed home from the corner of the six-yard box.
Despite the acute angle and the wall of Georgia players on the goal line, the Premier League's all-time top goalscorer somehow picked out the top corner of the net.
That strike came in the third minute of injury time and earned a 2-0 win for the Three Lions in the qualifying clash for World Cup '98.

Despite the iconic strike, the win in 1997 didn't compare to 5-0, hammering that England inflicted on Ireland in the present day - a result which saw Shearer heap praise on the modern-day Tyneside trio.
Reflecting on Hall, Livramento and Gordon's performances, Shearer said: "I thought they did really well.
"Lewis Hall came on against Greece and then started against Ireland - as did Livramento and Gordon, so it was a good night for Newcastle.
"I thought the three Newcastle boys did well."
Newcastle have enjoyed a steady start to the Premier League season and find themselves in eighth position with five wins from 11 games so far.
Next up is a home clash with West Ham on Monday night, followed by a trip to Crystal Palace the following week.
