Shakira song heard in Barcelona dressing room

You could be forgiven for assuming that Shakira's music might be taboo, if not forbidden, in the Barcelona dressing room right now, but prior to the Catalan side's clash with Real Madrid in Las Vegas, her new track could be heard blaring loudly.

The fact that it was Shakira's new single makes the incident even more significant as the song 'Te Felicito' appears to aim a few not-so-subtle swipes at Gerard Pique.

Despite the Colombian singer's insistence that the lyrics have nothing to do with the Catalan defender, it's hard not to put two and two together when listening to the song in the context of their recent split.

'I realised you are a fake'

The song by Shakira and Rauw Alejandro feels every bit like a breakup song aimed at a dishonest ex. In light of everything that has been going on between Shakira and Pique, it is no surprise people are drawing the conclusions they are.

The song accuses a presumed ex-partner of putting on an act and being fake and a two-faced liar. It also taunts the target of the song of losing something real, someone who supported them and stood by them.

Tough weeks for Pique

Even if we believe Shakira and the lyrics and timing of the song are a coincidence, that probably won't help Pique much as he'll be aware what everyone is thinking.

Since the high-profile former couple announced their separation some weeks ago now, both have been the subject of intense media attention.

Now, the focus appears to be on the future and how the two navigate a future apart but while still co-parenting their children Milan and Sasha.

Whoever was in charge of the pre-match playlist in Las Vegas must have either forgotten about all this or have had their head in the sand for over a month.
