Saturday's Serie A predictions including Cagliari vs. Inter Milan

Empoli vs. Genoa (Saturday, 2.00pm)

Both beaten by Serie A title contenders just before Christmas, Empoli and Genoa will meet for their final fixture of 2024 on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing their hosts by three points in the standings, the Grifone are aiming to bounce back from a loss to Napoli, while Empoli were edged out by relentless league leaders Atalanta BC.

We say: Empoli 0-1 Genoa

Genoa are unbeaten in their last nine Serie A meetings with Empoli - drawing each of the last four - and they can take that streak into double figures by beating their hosts on Saturday.

While the Azzurri often fail to impress in front of their own fans, their visitors have proven tough to defeat since Patrick Vieira took charge.

Parma vs. Monza (Saturday, 2.00pm)

Finishing off their 2024 schedule with a battle at the bottom, Serie A survival rivals Parma and Monza will meet at Stadio Tardini on Saturday.

While the hosts are keeping faith with their promotion-winning boss despite another defeat last week, the visitors pulled the plug on their high-profile head coach with a record of one win from 17.

We say: Parma 2-1 Monza

Monza's need for maximum points is greater, but Parma have the more potent attack and can surely outscore one of the few teams below them in the standings.

A 'new-manager bounce' cannot be ruled out - particularly as Parma often leave themselves wide open - but the visitors might head back home empty-handed.

Cagliari vs. Inter Milan (Saturday, 5.00pm)

Aiming to finish a successful year with a streak of five straight Serie A wins, Inter Milan will visit Cagliari on Saturday, as both sides play their final fixture of 2024.

In addition to reclaiming the Scudetto, Inter have won the most matches, scored the most goals and conceded the fewest since the start of January; while they are in the thick of another title race, their hosts are stuck inside the drop zone.

We say: Cagliari 1-3 Inter Milan

Inter have spent the most minutes leading matches this season (683) while Cagliari have been ahead for the fewest (99), and they should both continue in the same vein this weekend.

The champions will be in no mood to relent as they try to apply pressure on several title rivals; their ailing hosts are in no position to stop them.

Lazio vs. Atalanta (Saturday, 7.45pm)

Aiming to end 2024 on top of Serie A, league leaders Atalanta BC will tackle close challengers Lazio at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening.

While La Dea could finish the year with an incredible streak of 11 consecutive top-flight wins, victory for the hosts would further tighten an already close-fought title race.

We say: Lazio 2-2 Atalanta BC

Very few teams get the better of Lazio on home turf, so Atalanta's long winning run may finally be brought to a halt.

Both sides like to get on the front foot, so it could be an entertaining contest at Stadio Olimpico, where the points will ultimately be shared.
