Two teams vying for a place in the League One playoff positions are set to come together on Saturday when Charlton Athletic host Reading at The Valley.

The hosts are 11th in the standings with 33 points from their first 22 matches, while the visitors are fifth in the table with 40 points from their opening 23 fixtures.

Leyton Orient will be looking to strengthen their playoff push when they square off against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon.

At a time when the home side sit in eighth position in the League One table, 22nd-placed Shrewsbury have kick started their survival bid with a four-game unbeaten run.

We say: Leyton Orient 2-1 Shrewsbury Town

With both teams putting together their strongest run of form all season, this could prove to be one of the games of the weekend. Although Shrewsbury will back themselves to secure at least a point, though, we cannot ignore Orient's streak of victories, leading us to predict a hard-fought three points for the home side.

These two teams sit in 12th and 14th position in the table respectively having failed to put together a consistent run of form of late.

With Lincoln having lost their last three fixtures, Stevenage will fancy themselves to earn something from this game. Given the visitors have also struggled for wins of late, a low-scoring draw appears to be the most likely outcome.

Stockport vs. Mansfield (Saturday, 3.00pm)

In a match that could affect the race for promotion, Stockport County will welcome Mansfield Town to Edgeley Park on Saturday in their 25th League One game of the season.

Stockport drew 1-1 with second-placed Birmingham City on Wednesday, and the result left them one place and one point from the promotion playoff spots in seventh with 38 points, while the visitors are ninth with 34 points and beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 on January 1.

Stockport will be confident of at least avoiding defeat considering their record at home in recent weeks has been strong.

With Wigan having a longer break from action, they should come into this match suitably refreshed. Nevertheless, we are backing Blues to battle their way to a potentially-crucial three points to kick-start their title charge.

Two teams at opposing ends of the League One table are set to come face to face on Saturday afternoon when promotion-hopefuls Wrexham take on relegation-threatened Peterborough United.

The hosts are third in the league table with 48 points from 24 matches, while the visitors are 18th in the standings with 25 points from their 23 fixtures.

Wycombe are undefeated in the league at Adams Park since August 2024's loss to Birmingham, and that run should continue on Saturday.

Having put an average December behind them, the hosts should dispatch Bruce's Blackpool to secure consecutive wins at the turn of the year.
