Sancho exiled but senior teammates urge him to apologise with Germany return on the cards

The two have been at loggerheads ever since Sancho bit back at Ten Hag's claims in an 111-word social media post that he was left out of the squad for the defeat to Arsenal on September 3 due to his lack of performance in training.

The Times report that, in the build-up to the Arsenal game, Dan Gore, Facundo Pellistri and Hannibal Mejbri worked their socks off in training and Ten Hag deemed it unfair to leave them out of the squad.

For his actions, Sancho has since been exiled from the first-team, training with the Under-18 side and is understood to not even be allowed to eat with his teammates at Man United's training ground at Carrington.

It is said his meals are carried to him in the academy facility in a black takeaway box adorned with a United badge and a plastic lid.

But talkSPORT understands an apology to Ten Hag would bring him back into the first team fold.

talkSPORT reported last month that forward Marcus Rashford were among Sancho's teammates telling him to swallow his pride and issue the apology to the boss.

And this appears to still be going on with the Guardian reporting that senior players are desperate for the £73m signing to say sorry.

Former Old Trafford defender John O'Shea, who played under Sir Alex Ferguson, told talkSPORT the manager usually wins these types of battles with players.

"Even if you don't mean, just apologise," he said.

However, talkSPORT reported last week that although they want Sancho to apologise, Man United players are 'disgusted' by Ten Hag's treatment of the 23-year-old, as well as club legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club for the second time in acrimonious circumstances last season and joined Saudi club Al Nassr.

If Sancho's apology isn't forthcoming then it seems the only option will be for him to be sold.

A return to Borussia Dortmund, who sold him for Man United in the summer of 2021 has been mooted.

Sancho burst onto the scene with the Bundesliga club, registering 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances for them. He produced form that helped him break into England's senior side.

But his time at Old Trafford couldn't have been more different having scored just 12 goals in 82 appearances for the Red Devils.

Sancho has not been able to add to his 23 England caps since September 2021, two months after joining Man United.
