Salah out to extend record as title-chasing Liverpool host struggling Man United

After scoring late winners in back-to-back games against Fulham and Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp's men are top of the table as we approach the halfway stage.

Liverpool are looking like serious contenders this year and now host their bitter rivals, knowing that United are in something of a crisis.

The Red Devils were comfortably beaten by Bournemouth last weekend, losing 3-0 to the Cherries.

They also face Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek, so by the time they face Liverpool, their elite European hopes could be over.

This is one of the biggest rivalries in football, and last year's fixture ended in Liverpool winning 7-0, so who knows what will happen this time.

Mohamed Salah made it goal number 200 for Liverpool last weekend, and he will be looking to extend his excellent record against Manchester United.

The Egyptian superstar has played 12 times against United and in those encounters, has 12 goals and a further four assists.

The only team he has more goal contributions against is Man City, although he's faced them 20 times.

United are one of Salah's favourite opposition, and given the problems at Old Trafford, he is probably the last player they want to be facing.

The Reds have a few long-term issues, meaning they will be without several players.

Joel Matip has an ACL, Thiago Alcantara and Andrew Robertson are also out until the new year. Stefan Bajcetic remains absent.

Diogo Jota has a hamstring problem and could miss out along with Alexis Mac Allister.

Meanwhile, United won't be able to call upon the services of Lisandro Martinez or Casemiro.

Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia also won't feature.

Bruno Fernandes misses out after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season and Mason Mount is doubtful.

United icon-turned pundit Rio Ferdinand believes that the Red Devils' poor form isn't solely down to Erik ten Hag.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "I'm with Gary Neville on this in terms of, are you just going to keep changing managers when the players are going out there and aren't performing?

"On the basis of what I saw last season, yes [he should stay].

"It's not just about the manager, if you sack Ten Hag and bring someone else in I reckon we'll still be here in two years saying the same thing.

"The culture at the club has got to be set and changed, he's been trying to do that with all the sagas we've seen off the pitch, from taking the armband off [Harry] Maguire, to [Cristiano] Ronaldo, to [Jadon] Sancho."
