The Portuguese has the talent but it's the hours of dedication to his craft that sees him considered one of the best to ever play the game.
He first entered the consciousness of football fans across the globe when he signed for Manchester United, aged just 18, in the summer of 2003.
And after three seasons of showing good potential, Ronaldo became a certified world beater from the beginning of his fourth season at Old Trafford.
He went to Real Madrid in 2009, where he won a hatful of trophies and individual accolades and also spent three years at Italian giants Juventus.
At 36 years old, he's still playing at the highest level having made a return to Man United in the summer.
We've already been treated to some magic Ronaldo moments in his second spell at the club, most recently a towering header in Man United's win over Atalanta.
And Darren Ambrose, who played against the great man, shed insight into how obsessed Ronaldo is with football as he revealed a brief conversation the pair had when Charlton played Man United in May 2006.
Ambrose told talkSPORT EDGE: "I scored a goal at the Valley, it was against Man United [in November 2005], I've struck it with my left foot and it was a great goal.
"Then we went up to Old Trafford and I've done the same kind of thing - hit a left footed shot and I think it was Edwin van der Sar who's plucked it out the top corner and pushed it wide.
"Cristiano Ronaldo runs up to me and says 'that's like at the Valley!' I just thought 'wow, this guy just loves football.'"
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping Ronaldo has memorised what opponents Liverpool have been getting up to lately so he can get the better of Virgil van Dijk on Sunday.
