Ronaldo confirms Man Utd transfer rumours as he gives thoughts on January exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted it is difficult to confirm whether he will still be a Manchester United player in January amid huge backlash about his explosive, tell-all interview.

The 37-year-old opened up to Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss his side of the story in relation to his recent Red Devils demise. Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford is incredibly uncertain as a direct result of this discussion, during which he confesses he doesn't respect manager Erik ten Hag and bemoaned how far the standards have fallen at United.

He penned a two-year contract extension upon his return last summer and now has just half a season left to run before he is free to part ways with the club he claims to hold so close to his heart. Whether he can last until then to depart remains unclear, but this interview has been seen by many as a way of forcing through an early exit.

When the topic turned to his club future, Ronaldo chose to focus on his relationship with the United fans and insist that they mean so much to him 'whatever happens'.

Asked if he will still be at United come the turn of the calendar year, he explained: "It's difficult to tell right now, it's because, we, my mood is right now to the World Cup.

"It's probably my last World Cup, of course, my fifth World Cup. I don't know what's gonna happen after the World Cup, but as I told you before, and I will say again, the fans will be always in my heart.

"And I hope they been in my side, even if I back, or if I'm not back, or if I stay or whatever. Nobody's perfect. Episodes in the life we all have is part of the human beings, is part of me to be a human being and father as well. I always will commit mistakes."

Ronaldo went on to claim that while his heart has always been in the right place when it comes to decisions made at United, he has felt restricted by those above him at times.

"When I arrived at Manchester United, I always be available to help the team to do the good things, to put in the right spots, to compete with the best teams.

"But it's hard when they cut your legs and they don't like you to shine and they don't listen to your advice.

"I think I have words to advise to the club because the trophies are one individual and collective. I think I can help a lot, but when the infrastructure is not good... "

Ronaldo's desire to leave United has been apparent from the start of the summer when he is alleged to have handed in a transfer request.
