Real Madrid's stock rises: The value of players soars

marca.com, 24 June 2022, 17:34
Off the back of a double-winning season

Arriving at Real Madrid, they were hardly known or with very little footballing experience at the elite level behind them.

On some occasions they were risky gambles and on others it was all down to a quick move by the club's sporting management, anticipating the moves of their great rivals, Barcelona.

We are talking about players like Vinicius, Valverde, Rodrygo, Militao and even Camavinga.

Each of them arrived at Real Madrid via different routes, but all of them share two things in common: firstly, that they were Juni Calafat's gambles and they knew how to multiply the value of what was invested.

Reinier and Lunin are the two players who have not exploded due to a lack of opportunities, but there is still time.

Odegaard was unable to shine in the first team, but his sale for 35 million euros, seven times more than what Los Blancos paid for the Norwegian in 2015, was a good return.

According to Transfermarkt, Vinicius is the most valuable player in LaLiga at 100 million euros. Real Madrid paid 35 million euros, and his value has multiplied by five, from the 20m euros he was valued at in 2018, to his current 100m euro value.

It must be said that the value of each player is obtained by using different variables such as years under contract, age, performance and efficiency in terms of the most important factors in football, such as goals and assists.

Fede Valverde is the player who has risen the most in value over the past season. He is third in LaLiga after his teammate Vinicius and Pedri.

Valverde's price has risen from 1m euros in 2016 to his current value of 70m euros. The price Madrid paid for him did not exceed 3 million euros.

Sixth on Transfermarkt's list is Militao, a player who has also increased in value, but what he has done is justify the 50 million euros that the club paid Porto.

Courtois is the eighth most valuable, reaching 60m euros.

Ninth in the ranking is none other than Rodrygo Goes. He shares the goalkeeper's 60m euro value.

Real Madrid paid 40m euros, but his value over the past season has continued to rise.

Camavinga completes the circle of the best-placed Real Madrid players on the aforementioned list.

He occupies the 13th position, with an estimated value of 55 million euros, 25m euros more than Real Madrid paid for him eleven months ago.

Alaba, who has also risen in value since he started playing for Real Madrid, has the same value.

Vinicius and Rodrygo arrived at Real Madrid thanks to the swift management of Juni Calafat.

His presence in Brazil prevented both players from committing to Barcelona, including efforts by Gerard Pique in the case of the former Flamengo player.

Militao signed after four months of playing for Porto.

Another skilful, and at the time criticised, manoeuvre by Real Madrid made the arrival of a centre-back possible.

The Uruguayan was clearly an investment for the future.

With regard to Camavinga, the deal took a long time, with many trips to France and many conversations.

The result came about and in a swift market move made, as the French international committed himself to Real Madrid on August 30 last year.
