Pogba puts Man United woe behind him by receiving hero's reception from Juve fans

And the difference in the reception between the last one he received at Old Trafford, versus the one he got upon his return to his former club Juventus for a medical on Friday, couldn't have been starker.

This summer marked the end of the Frenchman's six years at Manchester United.

When he returned to the side he'd played youth football and made his senior debut for for a then-record transfer fee of £89.3million back in 2016, the expectation was for him to light up United's midfield.

However, although there were moments of success such as scoring in the Europa League final, his second stint at Old Trafford failed to meet the standards both he and the club had envisioned.

From him having his vice-captaincy stripped by then-boss Jose Mourinho after he'd criticised his tactics, to injuries and bad relationships with fans, Pogba's second chapter at United closed with him being jeered off the pitch by supporters.

And following his release from the club at the end of his deal, it was unsurprising that he'd been heavily linked with his former club Juventus.

During his time in Turin, Pogba became a fan favourite, making 177 appearances, scoring 34 times and setting up 40 goals.

Prior to his return, the France international posted "see you soon" and "PogAlmostBack" across his social media channels.

And when he landed in Turin for his medical ahead of a potential return to the Serie A club, the midfielder had an ideal welcoming party waiting for him.

Crowds of Juventus supporters were awaiting his arrival, chanting and cheering as Pogba arrived in a private jet.

"It's amazing to see you again" he told fans as he grinned and took selfies with them.
