Piers Morgan calls out Haaland after Man City humbling in voicenote to talkSPORT

talksport.com, 3 February 2025, 10:22
Erling Haaland has to eat some humble pie - Mikel Arteta and Myles Lewis-Skelly got their revenge in the best way possible.

That's the view of Arsenal fan Piers Morgan, who left talkSPORT a cheeky voicenote following the Gunners' brutal 5-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday.

The Gunners ran riot in the second half at the Emirates to see them close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool once again to six points.

Though Gooners would have feared the worst after Haaland equalised in the 55th minute - only for the hosts to immediately retake the lead through Thomas Partey.

Haaland's goal - his 25th of the season in all competitions - was just one of nine touches he had in north London with the striker an anonymous figure for the majority of the match.

Morgan, like the tens of thousands of Arsenal fans inside the stadium, revelled in Haaland's misfortunes - particularly after his actions in the reverse fixture at the Etihad in September.

Gabriel gets revenge on Haaland before Arsenal teammate mocks celebration

Following John Stones' dramatic injury time equaliser in the 2-2 draw, the Norway international was seen throwing the ball at Gabriel Magalhaes' head.

And tempers flared after the full-time whistle, where he asked Hale End graduate Lewis-Skelly, 'Who the f*** are you?', after the debtuant got in his face.

Haaland then proceeded to tell Arsenal boss Arteta to, 'Stay humble', before labelling ex-Citizens forward Gabriel Jesus as a 'f****** clown'.

His words were firmly in the minds of the Arsenal squad and fanbase ahead of Sunday's clash, as shown by Lewis-Skelly's celebration after scoring his first senior goal.

He copied his iconic meditation pose by sitting on the pitch with his eyes closed in what turned out to be a humbling defeat for City.

Morgan found the result to be poetic justice for Haaland as he sent a voicenote to talkSPORT.

He said: "This is Piers Morgan for talkSPORT, I've just got back from the stadium after watching Arsenal demolish Manchester City 5-1.

"The last time we played City, Erling Haaland had a lot to say for himself at the end of the game.

"He went up to our manager Mikel Arteta and told him to, 'Stay humble.'

"He also said to our young rising star - Myles Lewis-Skelly - that he didn't know who the 'F' he was.

"Well, there are two things I'd like to say after today's game Erling.

"One is, I think you know who Mr Lewis-Skelly is now.

"And secondly, stay humble.

"The way you lot are playing, you're going to have a lot to be humble about."

Reacting to Morgan's message, talkSPORT Breakfast co-host Jeff Stelling joked: "Ah, the most humble man on the planet, Piers Morgan, having his say."

Ally McCoist then added: "The man who put the 'H' in humble."
