Pickford told where he can improve as Tottenham and Man United consider transfer

Pickford penned a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison Park earlier this year after playing a key role in helping the Toffees retain their Premier League status last season.

Despite putting pen-to-paper on a new contract, the England number one has continued to be linked with a move away from Merseyside this summer with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United all being credited with an interest in the 29-year-old.

Pickford's main focus in the meantime, though, will be to ensure Everton retain their Premier League status for a second consecutive season, with the Toffees in the midst of the relegation battle in 15th place.

However, former Aston Villa goalkeeper coach Neil Cutler doesn't think clubs will be put off trying to sign Pickford despite his new contract and feels the England number one needs to work on his shape if he is to go to the next level.

Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Cutler said: "I think you can praise his loyalty because he's done really well for Everton over the years and it's a club that have supported him.

"I think in terms of signing a new contract, if somebody wants him enough than somebody will come in for him and pay the money. He's been England's goalkeeper for a fair few years now and he's done really well for England on the international stage.

"I think he's got a lot of strengths. His distribution of the ball [is one]. He's got a real mixed bag of clubs in terms of he can play out, he can play through, he can play over, he can play around. He's really comfortable in possession.

"I think he needs just a little bit more consistency in his shape. You've just got to fine tune him a little bit.

"With his shape, he can be a little erratic when he moves around the goal but that's my philosophy and the way I work. He'll have a different mindset and a different thought.

"I would probably just calm him down in his shape and the way he moves around the goal. He can be a little bit erratic in the way he holds himself but that's the way he works and the way he is. Maybe he doesn't want to change that."
