'Peak Ramos' breaks record, boots goalkeeper and shushes fans after cheeky pen

Sergio Ramos summed up his entire reputation in one bizarre penalty incident on Tuesday night.

His Sevilla side missed out on a place in the Europa League by losing 2-1 to Lens and finishing rock bottom of their Champions League group.

But the highlight of the match came in the 79th minute when Ramos was given a chance to score an equaliser.

The Real Madrid legend, known far and wide for his 's***housery', is among the last remaining defenders who are bold enough to take penalties.

Ramos initially saw his effort saved and the crowd were extra delighted because of the man who missed.

But their taunts were premature as Ramos got the opportunity to retake due to encroachment from Lens goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Rather than just convert the second attempt, the Spaniard pulled off a perfect Panenka millimetres underneath the crossbar.

And he did not stop there. Ramos, trying to retrieve the ball for a quick restart, then got booked for running through goalkeeper Samba with his studs in the air.

The centre-back did not let that spoil his moment, though, shushing the home fans and cupping his ears on his way back to the centre-circle.

Besides the antics, it was another reminder of Ramos' enduring status as one of the best goalscoring defenders of all-time.

The 37-year-old is now the leading defender in Champions League history with 17 goals, overtaking long-time rival Gerard Pique.

With Sevilla out of the competition and currently 16th in LaLiga, it might be his last appearance in Europe's elite competition.

If so, football fans could not have asked for a better send-off.
