Paul Pogba hit with 'now or never' transfer call as Man Utd contract winds down

Paul Pogba's Man Utd future remains uncertain as his contract runs down ahead of his expiry this summer and the midfielder has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus

Paul Pogba has been told he must move to Real Madrid this summer if he ever wants to turn out for Los Blancos, according to reports in Spain.

The Frenchman's contract is winding down at Manchester United and he could leave for free at the end of the season.

That would be a huge blow to those at Old Trafford, who invested a club record £89m in the player back in 2016.

Pogba has failed to produce consistently but his talent remains clear and a host of Europe's top clubs are keen on his services.

PSG and a return to Juventus have both been suggested, but Madrid are known to have a long-term interest.

Los Blancos are 'very attentive' to Pogba's situation as Marca claim it is 'now or never' if the midfielder wants to join the LaLiga outfit.

Madrid were keen on the Frenchman back in the summer of 2019 when Zinedine Zidane was still in charge.

He has now left his post but Los Blancos could still attract a player of Pogba's ilk.

The 28-year-old is currently injured but on the pitch he and his current side have struggled to assert themselves this term despite their star-studded line-up.

That could further Pogba's desire to leave, with the World Cup winner not claiming any silverware at club level since 2017.

Madrid, Juventus and PSG are all serial winners who would present the midfielder with more opportunities to win regularly.

Los Blancos continue to be linked with Pogba's compatriot Kylian Mbappe, who too could be available on a free this summer, as well as Erling Haaland.

PSG turned down several offers for Mbappe in the summer and, like United, are hopeful they can keep one of their prized assets.

Juventus meanwhile first allowed Pogba to flourish during a four-year spell.

The United star was recently quizzed on his future and claimed he was still in contact with former teammates in Italy whilst refusing to commit himself to the Manchester club.

He said: "I like Turin! I always speak with former Juve team-mates like (Paulo) Dybala.

"I'm in Manchester now, I'm under contract until June then let's see. I want to complete this season at best level - then we see"

Earlier this season Mino Raiola, who has been outspoken about forcing a United exit in the past, talked up a return to Italy.

"Paul Pogba is out of contract in June, so we'll talk with Manchester United and we'll see what happens," he told Rai Spor t.

"Juventus? Paul still loves Turin. There's a chance that Pogba will return to Juventus, yes - but it also depends on Juventus' plans."
