The Portugal international has allegedly told Manchester United that he wants to leave the club in the current market due to their failure to qualify for the 2022-23 Champions League.
However, the reported leading candidates to sign the 37-year-old - Chelsea and Bayern Munich - are not believed to be currently considering moving for him.
PSG have also been linked with the Portuguese, as the French champions are one of a select few number of clubs that would be able to sign him this summer.
According to ESPN, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes recently met with PSG sporting director Luis Campos and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to discuss his client moving to the French capital.
However, the report claims that PSG do not believe that Ronaldo would be 'the right signing' at this moment in time, while they also do not have room in their wage bill to bring him in, having handed Kylian Mbappe a lucrative new contract over the summer.
Lionel Messi and Neymar are also expected to stay in Paris for the 2022-23 campaign, so there is not an obvious position open for Ronaldo in the starting XI.
Ronaldo is believed to be frustrated by Man United's lack of transfer business this summer, with the club only making one addition thus far, bringing in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
However, speaking ahead of Tuesday's 4-0 win over Liverpool in a pre-season friendly, Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag insisted that his star forward was not for sale.
"We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that's it," Ten Hag told reporters. "I'm looking forward to working with him. I have read [that he wants to leave], but what I say is Cristiano is not for sale, he is in our plans and we want success together.
"I spoke with him before this issue came up, I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me. What I can confirm is we had a really good conversation together."
Real Madrid had also been linked with a move for their former player once his alleged desire to leave became apparent, but Los Blancos are not reportedly considering bringing him back to Bernabeu.
Ronaldo, who was included in Man United's recent kit launch, scored 24 goals and registered three assists in 37 appearances at club level last season, including 18 goals in 30 Premier League matches.
The Portugal international still has another year left to run on his contract, with the option of a further 12 months, placing the Red Devils in a strong position when it comes to his future.
Ronaldo was not involved in Man United's opening pre-season fixture on Tuesday against Liverpool, and he has also not yet made the trip to Australia for the team's next three friendlies.
However, his absence from the squad is not due to the transfer speculation, with the forward instead said to be dealing with a personal issue, which remains private.
