Paolo Maldini's son Daniel scores in first Serie A start for AC Milan

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder opened the scoring against Spezia Calcio and it will be a moment he will cherish for a long time.

Having shown a glimpse of what he is capable of doing after coming on as a late substitute against Liverpool in the Champions League, Maldini took the next step by starting in the league and then putting himself on the scoresheet.

Even though he's only being 5ft 9in, he rose highest to head the ball in the 48th minute to take the lead in the match. However they needed a late goal from former Manchester City man Brahim Diaz to seal the win.

Having headed many balls away in his illustrious career, Daniel's father Paolo would have been very proud to see a his son score a goal in that fashion.

Sitting in the stand, Paolo looked like he was heading the ball as his son went up for the ball, before celebrating with a beaming smile.

Aside from the wonderful moment for the 19-year-old, it was a crucial win for AC Milan who continue their strong start to the season with their fifth win from the first six available.

With a first league goal today Maldini is on his way to a successdul career at Milan but will do very well to achieve even half what his father has.

Having played 901 games for the club, the only team he ever played for, Paolo achieved almost everything possible for the Rossoneri.

Three Champions League final wins and seven league titles were just a glimpse of his incredible achievements and he will hope his son is able to secure some medals with the club too.

Daniel's brother Christian was previously on the books at Milan but failed to make the grade at the San Siro and despite playing in the academy never made a senior appearance.
