Ronald Koeman is under immense pressure following a poor start to the season and may be hanging on to his job by a thread.
Benfica defender Nicolas Otamendi, who didn't have the greatest time at Man City, decided to rub it in a little more and poke fun at Spanish youngster Ansu Fati.
The 18-year-old forward came from the La Masia academy and has established himself as a first-team player.
The Spaniard takes the famous number 10 shirt, following the footsteps of Argentine Lionel Messi and former Brazilian Ronaldinho.
Fati has got a lot to live up to if he hopes to replicate the successes of former greats.
The veteran defender was fouled and couldn't resist a dig at Fati by asking him: "Are you Leo?"
It may have caused some controversy amongst the Barcelona fanbase, with a mounting task ahead in changing the club's fortunes.
The Portuguese outfit didn't have any issues extending their unbeaten start to the season.
"I don't think it was a big test," Rafa Silva said.
The scorer of the second goal was asked if there was a special feel to facing heavyweight opponents and he added: "It was just another game we had to play, that we wanted to win.
"We've shown what we have been and want to continue to be. We have to focus on us because we have an excellent team."
Benfica manager Jorge Jesus admitted his side would dominate and create a one-sided affair even if they conceded against the Spanish outfit.
"We had to be very strong in the defensive process," Jesus said.
"We managed the moments of the game; Barcelona had more possession as usual, but what was important for us is that the last pass didn't get through. Then we were very strong to break and we scored three goals.
"I knew that to beat Barcelona we had to score more than one goal. I was counting on conceding a goal, but Vlachodimos didn't have a save and had to deal with just except crosses."
