Forest have already experienced a busy transfer deadline day after bolstering Steve Cooper's squad with three new additions.
Left-back Nuno Tavares arrived on a loan deal from Arsenal, before Nicolas Dominguez completed a transfer from Serie A side Bologna.
They have also signed Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea for a reported initial £3m fee with a further £5m due in add-ons.
With the deadline fast approaching, Forest are still determined to make further additions, including in central defence.
The Tricky Trees identified Chalobah as a potential target and subsequently submitted a £25m offer for the Chelsea academy product.
However, the 24-year-old is reluctant to agree to a move to the City Ground, which has forced Forest to turn their attention to potential alternatives.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Tricky Trees are now pursuing a deal for Norwich centre-back Omobamidele.
In a separate update, Sky Sports News has revealed that Forest have already had two verbal bids for Omobamidele rejected by Norwich.
The report claims that the two clubs are in discussions over a deal, but Norwich are reluctant to sanction a sale in the final two hours of the transfer window.
As a result, there is a belief that Forest would have to submit a significant bid for the Canaries to change their stances.
Omobamidele, who has earned six caps for the Republic of Ireland, is under contract with the Championship club until the summer of 2026.
The 21-year-old joined Noriwch's academy in 2019 and has gone on to make 55 appearances for the senior side, chipping in with two goals.
