Non-league club make offer to sign Haaland on loan from Man City during World Cup

Non-league side Ashton United have made an approach to sign Manchester City's Erling Haaaland on loan.

In a hilarious post, which momentarily crashed the its website, the seventh-tier National League North outfit offered to keep Haaland fit during the World Cup break.

Despite Haaland being in frightening form with 23 goals in 18 games for City, his efforts weren't enough to book Norway a spot in Qatar.

That means the striker will have a month off from the game while other countries battle it out for the biggest prize in football.

Rather than some rest and relaxation, though, Haaland has been offered the chance to keep his match fitness up by Ashton United.

In a story titled: 'Club Statement: Loan Approach'. The team posted a genius story that included quotes from their manager.

Ashton United can confirm the club has submitted a 28-day loan approach for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

It read: "With the current Premier League champions not in action until late December due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, The Robins have reached out to our neighbours at the Etihad in order to keep Haaland's match fitness with him not being involved in Qatar.

"Speaking to ashtonunited.co.uk after Saturday's defeat to Gainsborough Trinity, Robins' manager Michael Clegg said: 'It just makes sense.

"'City aren't playing, and we want to help by keeping Erling fit, it makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks.

"'We think he will be a great fit for us,and would slot in with our squad dynamic really well.'

"The club are yet to receive any response from Manchester City."

Arsenal legend Paul Merson recently said Erling Haaland 'wouldn't score 60 goals in League Two,' well how about 80 in non-league?
