Lingard may well be heading to the exit at Manchester United next month ahead of his contract expiring in the summer.
He has played just 77 minutes in the Premier League this season, and it does not look like his chances will be improving under Ralf Rangnick.
The interim Man United boss omitted the midfielder from his first squad to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Transfer speculation about Lingard has been ramping up ahead of the January transfer window, and former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes Newcastle could be a good landing spot.
Eddie Howe's side currently sit 19th in the Premier League, but are likely to make additions in the window following their £305million takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: "If I was Newcastle, I'd look at a defensive midfielder and look at Lingard to play in front with Willock as a No.8
"They need another player who can run with the ball, score goals and help Callum Wilson because they are not far off Newcastle.
"Three or four of the right players and Lingard would be perfect for them. They've got every chance of staying up, they just have to stick in there until January."
West Ham are another likely candidate for Lingard following his brilliant loan spell at the club during the second half of last season.
He scored nine Premier League goals in just 16 games and helped fire them into the Europa League.
