New footage shows Rudiger's unusual method of keeping goal machine Haaland quiet

The Germany international marshalled the Los Blancos backline, as the Champions League semi-final first leg finished 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rudiger had been tasked with keeping 51-goal Haaland at bay prior to the clash, and did just that.

The 30-year-old powerhouse is known for his tackling, anticipation and great positioning, but it fair to say we certainly saw his dark arts too.

Rudiger can been seen irritating Haaland as he stood beside the Norway international, with a video since emerging online.

Footage taken from a fan in the stands shows Rudiger ducking down under Haaland's armpit, before wrapping his arm around him.

As Haaland moves away, Rudiger continues the same trick on the other side, forcing the Norwegian to use an arm and elbow.

It certainly was a very intimate man-marking trick from the ex-Chelsea centre-back.

According to UEFA statistics, Haaland made just 11 passes all evening, whilst having a total of 21 touches, two shots on target and one blocked shot.

Vinicius Jr gave Real Madrid the lead in the tie on 36 minutes, firing an unstoppable shot past Ederson.

Kevin De Bruyne then cancelled out the Brazil international's strike, with a ferocious effort of his own in the second half.

It means it is all to play for at the Etihad in next weeks contest, with Haaland set to do battle with Rudiger again, hoping to add to his current tally of 12 Champions League goals.
