Monday's World Cup predictions including England vs. Latvia

Lithuania vs. Finland (Monday, 5.00pm)

Aiming to extend their successful start to World Cup qualifying, Finland will visit Lithuania on Monday evening, for the second game of their Group G campaign.

While the Finns edged past Malta on the opening matchday, their hosts held Poland for almost 90 minutes before becoming the latest victims of a goalscoring superstar.

We say: Lithuania 1-2 Finland

The onus will be on Finland to attack, as they must keep compiling points against Group G's minnows if they are to make it through to the World Cup playoffs.

While Lithuania may be able to exploit any space, an overall deficit of quality in key areas should result in yet another defeat - their ninth in a row.

Poland vs. Malta (Monday, 7.45pm)

After scraping through their first World Cup qualifier with a late goal from their inspirational skipper, Poland host Group G minnows Malta on Monday.

The Eagles almost slipped up against Lithuania last time out, so they will aim to put on a more convincing display in Warsaw.

We say: Poland 4-0 Malta

Malta may have been beaten in 21 of their last 25 qualifying matches, but their defensive record has distinctly improved over the past few months - albeit against lower-ranked nations.

Now faced by tougher opposition, they are set to come up short at Stadion Narodowy, with goal-shy Poland taking their chance to go all-out in attack.

Bosnia H'vina vs. Cyprus (Monday, 7.45pm)

Two nations who made the perfect start to World Cup qualifying meet in Zenica on Monday night when Bosnia-Herzegovina host Cyprus.

There were no great shocks as Cyprus beat San Marino on Friday to go top of the section, but Bosnia pulled off an excellent result in winning away to Romania.

We say: Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 Cyprus

Things can only get better for Cyprus after a dismal few years, and this fixture will paint a clear picture of where they are at, and whether they can be competitive in the section.

After a fantastic win on matchday one, it would be typical of Bosnia to blunder and drop points in this easier clash on paper, but they should get the job done against a side 56 places below them in the rankings, and they will fancy their chances of keeping a first clean sheet in nine home matches.

San Marino vs. Romania (Monday, 7.45pm)

After a disappointing start to World Cup qualifying, Romania will look to get their campaign up and running when they visit Serravalle to face minnows San Marino on Monday night.

Mircea Lucescu's side were stunned at home by Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday night, while San Marino were beaten in Cyprus on the same night.

We say: San Marino 0-4 Romania

San Marino have certainly improved from the side that would rack up heavy defeats on a regular basis, but there is next-to-no chance of them being competitive in this one, and back-to-back defeats loom.

Romania will want a routine victory by a healthy margin of goals to make up for Friday's defeat, and they have the talent to do so, in what should be an easy evening for the visitors.

Albania vs. Andorra (Monday, 7.45pm)

Albania and Andorra, both aiming to bounce back from defeats on matchday one of the UEFA FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will face off on Monday in a matchday two clash in Group K.

The hosts suffered a 2-0 defeat to England in their last outing, while the visitors were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Latvia on matchday one.

We say: Albania 2-0 Andorra

Albania have won four and drawn one of their last five meetings with Andorra, and with the visitors also failing to score in nine of their last 10 matches, we expect the hosts to secure the victory and keep a clean sheet.

England vs. Latvia (Monday, 7.45pm)

In what is already a top-of-the-table clash in Group K of UEFA World Cup 2026 Qualifying, England and Latvia lock horns at Wembley Stadium on Monday evening.

The Three Lions' Thomas Tuchel era commenced with an expected win over Albania on Friday by two goals to nil, while their visitors eked out a 1-0 success versus Andorra away from home.

We say: England 4-0 Latvia

It would not be overly harsh to suggest that England's performance on Friday left quite a bit to be desired, but Tuchel's men should have no trouble whatsoever swatting aside Latvia.

Even with a defence-heavy formation, the 11 Wolves should be powerless to quell a refreshed Three Lions attack as Tuchel continues his perfect start to life in the dugout.
