Miralem Pjanic's gleeful response to Koeman sacking after Barcelona fallout

mirror.co.uk, 28 October 2021, 16:23

Miralem Pjanic has made his feelings on Ronald Koeman 's sacking as Barcelona boss crystal clear with a not-so-cryptic Instagram message.

The Bosnian international currently finds himself on loan at Turkish Super Lig outfit Besiktas, but still evidently harbours strong feelings towards his old boss at his parent side after being unwanted under the Dutchman.

Barca's 1-0 defeat away at Rayo Vallecano was seemingly the final straw for the Catalan club's hierarchy, dismissing Koeman from his post as manager less than two hours after the full-time whistle had blown.

Given Vallecano are the smallest club in the division and had not toppled Barcelona for more than 19 years - it was a testament to how far Barca had fallen under Koeman that it was not even particularly difficult for the Spanish minnows.

In the aftermath of news of his dismissal, Pjanic - a player previously scorned by Koeman, took to social media to send an indirect shot the Dutch manager's way.

The 31-year-old re-shared a quote to his Instagram page that read 'Know when to let that s**t go' accompanied with the 'okay' emoji.

It is not the first time Pjanic has been vocal in his opposition of Koeman, previously shedding light on their poor relationship while they shared the Camp Nou.

"Last year in Barcelona, the coach made decisions that I didn't understand, I wasn't very lucky" Pjanic explained earlier this year, as quoted by AS.

"I could have played for Barcelona. I needed more minutes, but it was the coach's decision.

"He had to figure it out and find a place where I could play. They go through difficult times and the results are not what the fans want.

"That creates pressure. The board of directors and the president know what to do."

Pjanic did offer some optimism over Barca's future, revealing: "Financially, things are not good, but it is a great club. It has very good players and, perhaps, they need a leader to lift the team.

"Mistakes have been made, but people will make the right decisions. Barcelona will come back as one of the greatest."

Koeman did not take those comments lying down, responding by claiming he had players a better fit for his system than Pjanic.

'I think it's a bit of frustration on the part of the player that I understand,' the Dutchman told Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona called time on Koeman's reign after just 14 months at the helm, with just a Copa Del Rey trophy to show for his time in the Camp Nou hot-seat.
