Mikel Arteta's new stars shine brightest in first Arsenal win of the season

In the aftermath of their first win of the season, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta claimed that the last fortnight has been the best of his 22-year professional career.

It has been a disastrous start to the season for the Gunners, Arteta's men sat rock bottom of the Premier League after three games played, with zero points, zero goals scored and nine goals conceded before Saturday's clash.

The Gunners saw off newly-promoted Norwich City in front of a packed Emirates Stadium courtesy of a second-half strike from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who tapped home from no more than a yard out for the club's first league goal of the season.

After the game, Arsenal skipper Aubameyang reflected on one of the most difficult period's of the club's recent history, explaining: "It was really hard. When you lose games as players we are the first to be touched inside."

The win was hardly a vintage Arsenal performance - but that will mean very little to Arsenal players and staff alike, as they lift themselves off the foot of the table to 16th.

While the captain proved to be the match-winner, Arteta has a number of his new stars to thank for the victory which will in turn give him some crucial breathing room as pressure grows surrounding his tenure.

Five of Arsenal's six summer signings featured in the win, Portuguese full-back Nuno Tavares the only one to miss out.

£50m man Ben White put in a masterful performance with the ball at his feet, spraying a number of pin-point passes across the Emirates turf - finding a teammate time and time again, all while keeping Canaries talisman Teemu Pukki quiet.

His display was arguably overshadowed by that of debutant Takehiro Tomiyasu, who only had half a day of training prior to his involvement.

A combative showing, Tomiyasu won seven of his eight attempted aerial duels while making a number of marauding runs down the right-flank.

Arsenal fans know all about the threat Martin Odegaard possesses, the Norway captain spending the latter half of last term on loan at the Emirates.

The 22-year-old was a constant presence throughout the tie, creating a number of chances for the likes of Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe.
