However, according to French news agency AFP, a move to Saudi Arabia has now been agreed.
It has been claimed that he will join Al Hilal on a £522million contract.

Since then speculation has gone into overdrive regarding his future plans, with Inter Miami interested and a potential return to Barcelona mooted.
However the 35-year-old is now set to head for Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal where he'll reignite his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo currently plays for Al-Hilal's rivals, Al-Nassr, meaning that the Saudi Pro League will boast two of the biggest names in modern football when his two-year stay in Ligue 1 comes to an end.
Messi arrived in Paris in the summer of 2021 after leaving Barcelona due to the club's complicated financial situation.
