Messi to reignite Ronaldo rivalry as Saudi Arabia move 'a done deal' on mega-contract

Lionel Messi will move to Saudi Arabia this summer with a deal reportedly done.

The Paris Saint-Germain star is out of contract at the end of the season with interest building in the 35-year-old's services.

However, according to French news agency AFP, a move to Saudi Arabia has now been agreed.

It has been claimed that he will join Al Hilal on a £522million contract.

Messi is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all-time due to his stellar performances for both club and country.

As well as winning seven Ballon d'Or awards in his career, the Argentine superstar completed his much-decorated set of silverware by winning the World Cup with his country in Qatar last year.

Since then speculation has gone into overdrive regarding his future plans, with Inter Miami interested and a potential return to Barcelona mooted.

However the 35-year-old is now set to head for Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal where he'll reignite his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo currently plays for Al-Hilal's rivals, Al-Nassr, meaning that the Saudi Pro League will boast two of the biggest names in modern football when his two-year stay in Ligue 1 comes to an end.

Messi arrived in Paris in the summer of 2021 after leaving Barcelona due to the club's complicated financial situation.

Since then the Argentine superstar has scored 34 goals and bagged 31 assists in 71 appearances for the club.
