But despite his dad's departure, the youthful right back will no doubt be boosted by the prospect of being able to train and play with the World Cup winner as he looks to develop.
Ex-EFL player
Former Nottingham Forest, Lincoln City and Barnet youth player Robert Taylor will play with Messi next season, too.
Although the Finland international never made a senior league appearance for the English clubs, he did make one for Boston Town on loan from Lincoln.
After playing in Finland, Sweden and Norway, Taylor signed for Inter Miami on a two-year deal in February.
And, as a winger who can be deployed as a central midfielder, Messi will no doubt be dream competition for him.
Former Tottenham man
Seattle-born DeAndre Yedlin earned his move to Spurs after performances at the 2014 World Cup, with the north London club beating AS Roma to his signature. He even spent New Years Eve at Harry Kane's house in 2014.
However, he never really featured in the club's plans, and when out on loan with Sunderland, Yedlin once endured being substituted just 19 minutes into a game.
Under Sam Allardyce he eventually came good, even providing the cross to Jermain Defoe that secured the victory that put the club on the verge of Premier League survival. He then moved on to Newcastle and Galatasaray before signing for Inter Miami.
Now 29, the American enjoys plenty of game time at the MLS outfit and will be one of Messi's more well known teammates.
Ex-Wolves man
Leonardo Campana was still on Wolves' books up until this January, leaving to sign for Inter Miami on a permanent basis after spending the previous year there on loan.
The 22-year-old Ecuadorian centre-forward occupies a Young Designated Player roster slot at the MLS side and has scored 15 goals in 39 appearances since initially joining in 2022.
Starting his career at Ecuadorian outfit Barcelona Sporting Club, Campana signed for Wolves in 2020.
