Aguibou Camara is having breakthrough season at Olympiacos and looks set to become the latest African talent to grace the Premier League with a number of clubs linked

The Premier League has been blessed with an influx of astonishing Africans in the past few years and now it appears as though the latest in the continent's long line of budding talent could well be joining them on English shores.

Aguibou Camara may not be a household name just yet, but the 20-year-old Guinean has lit up the Greek Super League this season on the way to earning the accolade of "one of the most exciting talents in Europe right now".

Having starred for Olympiacos domestically and in Europe, a host of Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle are all reportedly fighting it out for the versatile midfielder's signature.

But who exactly is the £20million highly-rated wonderkid catching the eye of Europe's top clubs and what is all the fuss about? Mirror Football reveal all...

Who is he?

Camara was snapped up by French club Lille where he signed his first professional contract in 2019 and developed as a youngster.

The 20-year-old then seized his only opportunity in the first-team, scoring on his professional debut in February 2021 as last season's Ligue 1 champions claimed victory over Dijon in the Coupe de France with the young Guinean hitting the only goal of the game.

Despite impressing, the lure of more regular game-time was too much to resist as Greek giants Olympiacos came knocking in the summer.

A move to Athens transpired and Camara hasn't looked back since, establishing himself as a regular this season while attracting attention for his performances from all around Europe.

The versatile midfielder predominantly plays as a number 10 but has has been used centrally, on the wings and in a front three, showing an remarkable ability to adapt his game for someone so young.

Not only that, but Camara has already earned eight senior caps for his native Guinea, with seven of them coming in this calendar year, and bagged his first goal for the National Elephants in a 2-1 friendly triumph over Niger back in June.

Camara's current campaign

Which Premier League club should sign Aguibou Camara from Olympiacos? Let us know in the comments section.

Despite his inexperience, Camara has forced his way into Pedro Martins' Olympiacos first-team, amassing 17 appearances already this season.

The midfielder has netted five goals and registered two assists so far this term and his fine form has seen him start every one of the Greek side's last nine league games.

Not only has he impressed domestically, but Camara has dazzled within Olympiacos' Europa League campaign, starting in six successive matches, with the Greeks currently second in Group D ahead of their penultimate matchday clash against Turkish side Fenerbahce on Thursday.

In his latest outing last weekend, Camara opened the scoring in 3-2 triumph against city rivals AEK Athens with a sumptuous strike into the top corner from the edge of the area as Olympiacos extended their lead atop the Super League Greece to six points.

Premier League bound?

If rumours are believed to be true, summer signing Camara may not remain in the Greek capital for much longer.

According to The Sun, a host of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in the highly-rated youngster, with Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle all linked.

The three clubs have all reportedly contacted the Guinea star's agent and sources close to the player claim a move to the Premier League is in the offing with Camara expected to be playing in England by next summer.

However, the Premier League trio aren't the only clubs from around Europe sniffing around.

Monaco are reportedly hoping to tempt Camara back to France with Italian side Bologna and La Liga duo Valencia and Villarreal are all believed to be keen.

It appears Camara won't come cheaply however, as Olympiacos president Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Nottingham Forest, is reportedly demanding £20m for the starlet.

Whichever club does manage to tap up the exciting Guinean look to have quite the prospect on their hands.
