Mark Robins eyed by two EFL clubs as ex-Coventry boss plots managerial return

talksport.com, 28 December 2024, 18:58
Former Coventry City manager Mark Robins is a target for two Championship clubs.

Robins, 55, was sacked by the Sky Blues in November after becoming the longest-serving manager in the Championship.

Now, talkSPORT understands that Robins is on the shortlist for the vacant manager posts at both West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.

Robins was sacked by Coventry in November and is keen to return to work as soon as possible.

It was former Chelsea and England star Frank Lampard who took over from Robins, with the ex-Chelsea and Everton boss appointed at the end of November.

Coventry are currently 15th in the Championship with 27 points and next face Millwall.

Robins has a long managerial history, having looked after Rotherham United, Barnsley and Huddersfield Town.

He has also had two spells at Coventry with a year-long stint in 2012-13 before returning four years later in 2017.

During his absence at Coventry, Robins took over Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United.

He led Coventry to promotion from League One in the 2019-20 season, just two seasons after leading them out of League Two in 2017-18.

Coventry also won the EFL Trophy in 2016-17 and has won the EFL Manager of the Month award twice at the Midlands club.

Memorably, Robins led Coventry to the FA Cup semi-final last season, during which they levelled from 3-0 against Manchester United before losing on penalties.

After being dismissed in November though, Robins was keen to return to management quickly, and it seems as though two potential opportunities have arisen.

West Brom are looking for a new boss after Carlos Corberán quit to join Valencia on Christmas Eve.

Meanwhile Stoke sacked Narcís Pelach on Friday after just 19 games in charge.
