Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek's teammates sympathise with his plight at Old Trafford, which has seen him make only five cameo appearances in all competitions this season

Donny van de Beek can't get football at Manchester United for love nor money.

And it seems his Red Devils teammates sympathise with his plight at Old Trafford, which has seen him make only five cameo appearances in all competitions this season.

Van de Beek was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. in the summer of 2020.

The Holland international set United back a cool £35million and the midfielder was tipped to play alongside Paul Pogba and behind Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the park.

His first appearances for United on the opening day of last season - a 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace - saw Van de Beek on the scoresheet.

But from this moment on his career at Man United has been on a steady decline.

Van de Beek is yet to experience a consistent run in the Red Devils starting XI and there are huge question marks over why he was even signed in the first place.

According to the Daily Mail, Van de Beek teammates have now started to take note and are frustrated on behalf of the Dutchman.

Solskjaer is yet to find a winning formula at United despite chopping and changing his midfield and has still not given Van de Beek the opportunity to prove him wrong.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-0 at home by bitter rivals Manchester City this weekend.

An own goal and a Bernardo Silva effort earning Pep Guardiola's men all three points.

Solskjaer said after the defeat: "It's very difficult to talk now, of course, because we started the game off badly, passive and when they get the first goal, it was always going to be a difficult game anyway, but being 1-0 down was hard.

"David [De Gea] kept us in the game, some good stops and then they scored a goal they always score. [Joao] Cancelo cuts inside, cross [to the] back-stick that we know that's going to happen and it shouldn't happen. It's disappointing, of course.

"It's hard to talk at the moment. We play against a good team, don't forget that, but we were nowhere near what our standards and levels can be and that's something we have to get back to.

"We've got to go back to being on the front foot, be more aggressive, maybe circumstances have made us a little bit more cautious and passive."
