Man United transfer news: How Casemiro could leave Old Trafford over the next couple of days

The 32-year-old has made 24 appearances for the Red Devils during the 2024-25 campaign, but he is currently out of favour under head coach Ruben Amorim, and the midfielder was heavily linked with a January exit.

There is believed to have been serious interest from the Saudi Pro League, but their transfer window closed with the Brazilian remaining at Old Trafford.

Casemiro could still be on his way out of Man United over the next couple of days, though, as the Turkish transfer window does not close until Tuesday.

According to reports in Turkey, Besiktas, who have recently appointed former Man United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager, are interested in a late move for the Brazilian.

Casemiro 'could move to Besiktas' before transfer deadline

Man United head coach Amorim recently suggested that Casemiro is not in his plans at Old Trafford moving forward.

"He has to have the characteristics and then I have to choose the player with the characteristics on how I see the game," Amorim told reporters after the recent Europa League game with Rangers.

"It is just like that and I have to make some choices, I want to play a game that is sometimes different from other coaches and I have to chose based on that. That's all."

Casemiro has not featured in the Premier League since the end of December, being an unused substitute in the team's last five games in England's top flight.

The Brazilian was only given the final minute of Friday's FA Cup clash against Leicester City, meanwhile, having dropped down the pecking order due to his struggles in the first half of the campaign.

How likely is a late move to Besiktas?

Casemiro has a contract at Old Trafford until 2026, and he is the highest earner at the club, collecting £350,000 a week.

It is believed that the Brazilian is prepared to stay put, at least until the end of the season, but the chance to try his luck in a new league at this stage of his career could be appealing.

Besiktas would not be able to match his Man United salary, but he would still be able to ask for substantial wages, and more importantly, he would have the chance to become a regular again.

Man United are keen to move him on due to his enormous salary, and the fact that he is not currently close to the first XI at Old Trafford, but there is a lot of work to do in a short amount of time for a transfer to occur ahead of Tuesday's Turkish transfer deadline.
