The Red Devils are edging closer to signing their top target and finally announcing the first major incoming of the Erik ten Hag regime.
talkSPORT brought you the news on Sunday that United want to get the deal wrapped up by June 30.
They are close to agreeing a £68million fee for the Dutch midfielder, who previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
The Sun report that Barcelona were keen for Harry Maguire to be part of the De Jong deal.
The defender struggled last season, as did much of the United squad, and the £80m defender took the brunt of fans' frustrations at time.
However, the Red Devils flat out refused for their club captain to be part of the negotiations and now it will be a straight cash-only deal for De Jong.
Ten Hag is said to be keen to work with the 29-year-old as he kicks off his reign at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman will no doubt be pleased to finally get a signing over the line, after seeing rivals Man City, Liverpool, and Tottenham all strengthen already.
United have also offered a contract to playmaker Christian Eriksen, while Ajax winger Antony remains a top target for the club.
