The talkSPORT host made some huge claims on Drivetime as he suggested Messi's form this season is no match for Mahrez and Salah's.
Messi has had a tricky start to life with Paris Saint-Germain, netting just two goals in Ligue 1 this season. The Argentine has seven goals for PSG overall.
But Mahrez and Salah are enjoying fine seasons with 17 and 23 goals in all competitions for Manchester City and Liverpool this term respectively.
And presented with the hypothetical situation of a Champions League final tomorrow, Bent says Mahrez and Salah would get the nod over Messi.
"I know it sounds like blasphemy… but right now I would pick Mahrez over Messi," Bent said. "Mahrez is incredible at the moment.
"I bet Man City fans wouldn't swap Messi for Mahrez right now… Mahrez has been superb this season."
And on whether he'd choose Salah or Messi, Bent added: "If there's a game tomorrow, I'm taking Salah!
"I believe Messi is the greatest to ever play the game but what I'm saying is right now, Salah's playing better than him."
Many have suggested Salah has been the best player in the world this season and Bent believes his abilities are reaching such high levels that he would walk into PSG's front line.
"We call the Premier League the best in the world and Salah's ripped it apart for the last four years," Bent continued.
"I think there's an argument [that he's the best player in the world]. A lot of people put Robert Lewandowski's name in there.
"Name me someone who's better than Salah right now… it's tough, Salah is incredible.
"He could get into any team in the world. He could get into PSG's front three ahead of any of the front three."
