New York City FC shot three penalty kicks in the first 45 minutes.

New York City FC won their home match against New England Revolution outscoring them 4-2 at Yankee Stadium.

Even though the visiting team conceded three penalty kicks in the first half, the match was pretty even right before halftime and momentarily during the second half.

Argentinian strikers Valentin Castellanos and Gustavo Bou came close to a hat trick for City and Revolution respectively.

The scoreboard is inaugurated

Just eight minutes after the initial whistle New York City had their first opportunity to put a goal up on the scoreboard when Andrew Farrell commited a penalty that was converted by Talles Magno for the 1-0.

But it wasn't long till Gustavo Bou leveled the match with a right footed shot inside the box after a nice pass back by his teammate.

Shortly after just after a half hour of play, a new penalty kick was conceded to New York City FC, this time due to a foul commited on Valentin Castellanos.

It was Castellanos that shot the penalty, but unfortunately for him Petrovic, Revolution's goalkeeper saved the shot with a brilliant dive to the right side.

Castellano's effort to become the MLS top scorer for the season came short but not for long, cause 10 minutes later he got a redemption opportunity, when an astonishing third penalty was awarded to NYCFC in just 40 minutes of play.

This was the second penalty conceded by Andrew Ferrell, and this time the referee sent him off with a red card, even though he tried to plea his case till the very last moment, while they waited for confirmation from the booth.

Castellano took the ball and with a potent right hand shot from the spot he advanced New York in the scoreboard once again.

Thrilling start for the second half

New York City made a substitution to start the next 45 minutes, when Maxi Moralez left his place on the pitch to Gabriel Pereira.

Pereira was very active during his first minutes of playing time, eventually this would pay off as he scored the third goal for his squad at just the 48th minute, after he recovered a ball inside the box after a brilliant Petrovic save to a Castellanos shot.

Before scoring, Pereira beated the goalkeeper and a defender with a beatiful display of sensational dribbling skills.

The game then entered a more steady flow, with both teams trying to attack but Revolution prioritizing the defense of his own goal than attempting a comeback.

At least that was the case until les than 15 minutes till the end of the game, when Gustavo Bou finished off a brilliant play by his teammates on the left side.

This goal brought the emotion back to the match, the last few minutes promised to be a delight.

Castellanos puts himself in line to achieve the Golden Boot

Valentin Castellanos only waited four more minutes to settle things down again and make the NYC fans explode in the stands.

Following a fast break he managed to put the rebound in for his twelve goal of the season.
