'Liverpool will be back', says Mane, who explains why Klopp is 'definitely the right man'

Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane is 'convinced' Jurgen Klopp is the right man for the club, insisting the players love him despite their poor form.

A win would see the Merseyside outfit leapfrog Fulham into sixth spot, but they go into the crunch clash on the back of two disappointing performances.

Liverpool lost 5-2 against Real Madrid in the Champions League last week, before they were held to a 0-0 draw away at Crystal Palace.

The club's inconsistent displays this season has seen Klopp subject to criticism, with ex-Arsenal winger Perry Groves labelling Liverpool as 'dangerously average' after their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Molineux last month.

Defender Joel Matip recently told talkSPORT how it 'would be hard to imagine' any other person besides Klopp as Liverpool's manager.

And it is a thought echoed by his ex-teammate Mane, who spent six years playing under Klopp before his switch to Bayern Munich last summer.

Speaking to German news outlet Bild, the 30-year-old said: "Liverpool will be back.

"I'm convinced they will overcome this situation.

"They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man.

"He will lead Liverpool back up, from this season - the players love him."

During his stay at Anfield between 2016-2022, Mane banged in 120 goals from his 269 outings in all competitions - winning six major honours.

Since making the move to the Allianz Arena, Mane has chipped in with 11 goals and four assists from 24 games.

And he has revealed that former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo praised his switch to Germany.

He remarked: "You sometimes underestimate the Bundesliga here! This is also shown by the recent successes in the Champions League.

"I met Ronaldo in Mallorca before the season when my move was already decided.

"Ronaldo congratulated me on moving to Munich and said: 'A great club. That's a great step for you!'"
