Liverpool v Watford commentary and team news: TAA blow as Reds eye top spot

The Reds know that a win will move them above leaders Manchester City for the first time since October.

But City play later on Saturday against Burnley, so if Liverpool win, their time at the top could be very short lived.

Despite this, Liverpool look almost unstoppable in the league at the moment and have won nine games in a row to put the pressure right back on Pep Guardiola's side.

The Hornets are sitting on 22 points, three points from safety but they have lost five of Roy Hodgson's first nine games.

They did win their last game against Southampton and are in desperate need of the points.

However, Anfield has turned into a fortress for Liverpool once again and they are unbeaten in 14 league matches, while they have collected 36 points from a possible 42.

Liverpool v Watford: Team news

Liverpool look set to be without Trent Alexander-Arnold after the right-back withdrew from the England squad and missed the FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest with a hamstring problem.

Klopp has said that the 23-year-old will be out for several 'weeks', which means he isn't expected back until April 8 but he could yet return this weekend.

Klopp's other first-choice full-back Andrew Robertson missed Scotland's friendly against Poland with an illness but they were hopeful he would be involved against Austria tomorrow night.

If he plays, you can assume he has recovered and should be fine for Saturday.

Unless Liverpool pick up any injuries in the remaining international fixtures, you would assume Klopp will have pretty much a full squad to choose from.

However, he might have some concern over the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Luis Diaz as Colombia and Brazil play World Cup qualifiers in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The away side have eight players out on international duty, but so far, they haven't suffered any injuries.

As it stands, Watford haven't reported any other problems, so Hodgson should have a full squad to choose from as they look to move out of the relegation zone.

The Hornets started in a 4-3-3 formation against Southampton before the international break, meaning it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hodgson stick with the same shape.

Cucho Hernandez made it three goals in three games with a brace on the south coast, so you can expect to see him start.
