Liverpool 'not out of race for Kylian Mbappe in 2024'

The future of the 2018 World Cup winner has been a hot topic of debate throughout the summer, the player and his club being at loggerheads over his contract.

However, a resolution has been found that seemingly suits all parties, Mbappe having since been reintegrated back into the first-team picture.

With just one year officially remaining on his deal, though, the likelihood is that the 24-year-old will depart Parc des Princes next year.

Although there have been a number of Premier League clubs who have been credited with an interest in his signature, Real Madrid have always been regarded as his most likely destination.

Los Blancos were not in a position during the most recent transfer window to push through a big-money deal, yet their alleged plan is to follow up their long-term interest in January or, more likely, next summer.

Nevertheless, according to L'Equipe, Liverpool should not be ruled out as a possible next club for Mbappe.

The report claims that Mbappe would consider a switch to Anfield if the Merseyside outfit made an official approach for his signature.

In the past, the perception has been that Liverpool would be unable to afford Mbappe, even with it known that the player is an admirer of the club.

Mbappe is also said to be a fan of manager Jurgen Klopp, who faces the prospect of losing the club's star man Mohamed Salah to a Saudi Arabian club in the future.

If Liverpool decide to cash in on the Egypt international for any fee in excess of £150m, they would have the money at their disposal that would make them major players in the race for Mbappe.

With Salah regularly used on the right, Mbappe could theoretically act as a straight replacement, while also being an option down the centre.

As it stands, Liverpool are insisting that they will not sell Salah before the end of the Saudi Arabian transfer window on Thursday evening.
